Have you ever experienced an AHA moment where small, recent happenings finally click into place? This just happened to me! My brain is scanning all the signs and nudges I’ve been getting for the last few weeks and I’m finally seeing what I am meant to be working on, right now: eradicating the Ego.
Sign # 1:
Over a year ago, I was told that I was being considered for a promotion at work. I’ll save you the drama, I haven’t been promoted … yet. Upon hearing the possibility, I felt a lot of things: grateful, happy, nervous, and undeserving, to name a few. I didn’t think much of it because I enjoy what I do, and I wasn’t doing it because I was angling for a promotion.
About a month ago, though, I felt myself becoming antsy and frustrated that I had not yet been promoted. I was seeing others get promoted and I was seeing new job postings hiring Assistant and Associate-director positions. It didn’t make sense to me why it wasn’t working out for me. I asked for guidance and answers. The ensuing conversations helped, although the thought of being overlooked or under-valued still lingered.
Ego.
Sign # 2:
I have been on a health and wellness journey, quite seriously, for over a year now. I’m working on building muscle and getting stronger and eating in a healthier and more focused way. One evening, I was chatting with my coach about what I could do to improve, and she offered meditation as an option. If you know me, you know that I am a certified yoga instructor and have a pretty good idea of the benefits of meditation. Yet, I had fallen off the meditation wagon and was having a very difficult time getting back on. I felt overwhelmed by all the options, so I just didn’t do it. I also felt that, with all my experience and years of training, I should be able to jump right back into a 20+ minute meditation practice with no problem, so the idea of doing anything less had me feeling failure.
Ego.
Then, the ideal meditation flew into my mind. I had been wanting something quick, yet powerful. And there it was, Ego Eradicator. A powerful kriya and meditation that packs quite a punch in as little as three minutes a day. I am currently on day 12 of my newly rebooted practice, and it feels really good.
Sign # 3:
I reconnected via Zoom with a college friend who is now an Executive Coach. As we caught up after many, many years, we chatted about our families, our jobs, and what we have been doing lately. She then shared a story with me about how she had to shed her Ego when she became a coach…
I listened, not realizing that this was another sign.
Eventually, it all made sense.
The Ego was calling for my attention. It wants to be soothed, or healed, or released, or something, and all the signs were pointing that way.

I’ll share a few lines I recently wrote in my journal (by recently I mean June 1, 2025)
“I am not me because I get a promotion or a raise. I am not me because someone values or praises my work. I am ME because I am ME, and I choose to show up as the best ME possible and I LET GO OF THE REST.”
Two days I later, I wrote this: “SOFTEN – Eradicate the Ego | It is driving all I think I want. My actions and hard work are not defined by external accolades, they just are.”

For so long I have been running toward something: the high school diploma, the college degree, the law degree, the six-figure salary, the promotion … running, running, running, running. And to what end? Only to accomplish the “thing” and set another goal to run towards.
I’m tired of running. For me, running often has taken away the joy of doing the “thing” I was running toward. I often wonder how much more I would have enjoyed certain experiences if I wasn’t so worried about trying to keep up with the Joneses all the time.
So now, I am being asked to pause. I’m being asked to explore the dimensions of my own Ego and provide the nurturing that it is asking for. For me, soothing my Ego directly equates to more presence and more joy in my day-to-day.
If you are being guided toward nurturing your own Ego, below is the practice I am currently engaged in. May it serve you.

Ego Eradicator Meditation
Posture & Mudra: This exercise can be done in Easy Pose or Rock Pose. (Easy Pose is pictured) Raise the arms up to a 60-degree angle. Keep the elbows straight and the shoulders down. Apply Neck Lock. Reach the thumbs up as if you are plugging them into the sky. (Image One) Fold the fingers onto the mounds at the base of the fingers, and stretch the palms wide, pulling the knuckles back. (Image Two)

Eyes: Eyes are closed.
Mental Focus: Focus above the head.

Breath: Breath of Fire: “Breath of Fire, also called agni praan, is a rapid, rhythmical breath pattern, generated from the navel point and diaphragm with an equal inhale and exhale and usually done through the nose. It is both stimulating and relaxing. It heals, strengthens the nerves and clears out old patterns and toxins.” (Source)
Time: Continue for 1 – 3 minutes.
To end: Inhale deeply and bring the arms overhead with the thumb tips touching. Open the fingers, exhale and relax the arms down.
